Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your adventure kicks off early in the morning with a scenic drive from Kampala toward southwestern Uganda. Expect rolling hills, charming towns, banana plantations and distant mountains along the way. You stop for lunch in Mbarara, then continue toward Bwindi.
By late afternoon you arrive at your lodge, check in, relax and enjoy the cool forest air. Dinner awaits as you prepare for tomorrow’s thrilling trek.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

After an early breakfast, you head to the park headquarters for a briefing. With your ranger guides leading the way, you enter the thick rainforest, following fresh clues left by gorillas. The trek can be steep, muddy and physically demanding, but the reward is incredible.
When you finally meet the gorilla family, you spend an unforgettable hour observing their behavior — feeding, playing, resting and interacting. This close contact with wild gorillas is emotional, powerful and deeply memorable.
After the trek, you return to the lodge for lunch, relaxation and a warm evening surrounded by forest sounds.

Best Time to Do the Safari

The ideal months for gorilla trekking are June to September and December to February. These dry seasons make the trails less slippery and visibility better. However, Bwindi is open for trekking all year.
